A promo code takes money off the first invoice of a new order. Renewals are at the normal price.
Steps
- Sign in to your brand admin. See Open your brand admin.
- In the menu, open Billing → Promo Codes.
- Click Create Promo Code.
- Type the Code, for example SUMMER20. Letters turn into capitals as you type.
- Choose the Type: Percentage (%) or Fixed Amount.
- Type the value. For Value (%), type a whole number from 1 to 100, for example 20 for 20% off. For a fixed amount the box shows your currency, for example Value (USD): type the amount, like 5 or 5.50.
- Optional: type Max Uses, how many times the code can be used in all. Leave it empty for no limit.
- Optional: pick Valid Until. Leave it empty for no end date.
- Click Create.
What happens next
- The code can be used from the moment you create it.
- The list shows its Discount, its Usage (times used out of Max Uses), its dates and its Status.
- A use is counted when an order is placed with the code, paid or not.
- The discount comes off before tax, and it is never more than the order.
- A fixed-amount code works only on orders in your brand's currency. A percentage code works in every currency.
- There is no limit per customer: one customer can use a code as often as Max Uses allows.
- A code works on a new hosting order in the client area. It does not take money off renewals, or off a domain your customer registers or transfers on its own.
Change or stop a code
Click the pencil to change a code, then click Update. Click the bin icon to stop it: it then shows as Inactive and can no longer be used.
There is no button to switch an inactive code back on, and once a code has a use limit or an end date you can change it but not remove it. In both cases, make a new code with a different name.
Common problems
It says the promo code already exists
Each code must be new for your brand, including codes you stopped. Type a different code.
It says Type a whole number from 1 to 100.
A percentage code takes 1% to 100% off. Type the number without the % sign.
